Hope Street in Melton
Bunurong and Wadawurrung Country
Safe, stable housing and personalised support for young people aged 16–25.
The Hope Street in Melton program provides young people and young families aged 16–25 with the security, structure, and support needed to transition from homelessness toward long-term interdependence. Offering up to 18 months of transitional housing in dedicated units, the program combines safe, affordable accommodation with intensive case management and a wholistic living skills program. Young people are supported to actively engage in education, employment, or training, with a strong focus on achieving meaningful study and career pathways, including completing secondary education and progressing to further education.
Alongside this, participants build essential independent living skills and are offered opportunities to engage in activities that promote learning, connection, and reconciliation. Through this integrated approach, young people strengthen their capacity to sustain housing, build financial stability, and develop strong cultural and community connections. Upon exiting the program, they are offered a period of outreach support, ensuring a smooth transition into longer-term accommodation, which may be private rental or shared accommodation, which reinforces the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to maintain their housing and wellbeing.

Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung
Safe, stable housing and personalised support for young people aged 16–25.
The Hope Street in Whittlesea program provides young people and young families with the security and support they need to consolidate their lives and build toward long-term interdependence. Delivered through a cluster of one- and two-bedroom units, the program offers semi-independent accommodation alongside on-site specialist support available seven days a week. By combining safe, affordable housing with tailored case management, young people are empowered to actively shape their goals across housing, education, employment, and personal development.
Participants are supported to strengthen their independent living skills, build meaningful cultural and community connections, and re-engage with study or work, creating strong foundations for long-term stability. Following up to an eighteen-month stay, many young people transition into sustainable housing outcomes, demonstrating that with the right support and a secure base, they can achieve significant progress and break cycles of homelessness and disadvantage. Through a personalised, strengths-based approach, the program creates the conditions for young people to thrive, supporting their growth, wellbeing, and future aspirations.
